AMSU appeals

The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has invited representatives of all the transporter association in the State to participate in the formation of a Joint Transporters Committee on December 4, 11.30 am at AMSU HQ in DMU campus.
AMSU said this in a statement issued today and added that the formation of the committee is as per the resolutions taken at the one day 'open discussion on transportation fare hike and grievances of transporters' held on November 22.
The current fare rule is based on official gazette notification of 2008, but as the rules have become outdated, there have been a number of instances where passengers and transporters engaged in heated arguments due to disagreement regarding the fare being charged, added the statement.
With the rising price of essential commodities and fuel, the transporters cannot and have not been following the outdated fare rate set by the gazette notification of 2008.
