Poll schedule for Assembly elections in 5 States likely to be announced in Jan: Sources EC team set to arrive at Manipur again

The poll schedule for Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Punjab, will not be announced this year. The schedule will likely be announced around January 5, as per sources in the Election Commission.
According to sources, there is still a lot of procedural work yet to be completed. The Election Commission is set to visit Uttar Pradesh next week. After this, the team will visit Manipur again.
In the last weeks, the Election Commission completed the tour of Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Goa. In the upcoming week, there will be a review of the report on the election preparations in UP, and then Manipur.
All poll-bound States have been asked to update their voter lists by January 1.
According to sources, polling is expected to be conducted in six to eight phases in Uttar Pradesh. In Goa and Manipur, voting will likely be held in a single phase, while the plan is to conduct polling in a single phase in Punjab and Uttarakhand as before, sources added.
