IMPHAL, Dec 2 : The All Manipur Students'  Union has claimed that the project ap-proved  by the Education Department for establishing three schools at Heirok under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) 2012-2013 has not been implemented till date though major portions of the fund have already been released.
According to the students union, construction of two of the three proposed schools namely Enganglok Achouba Primary School and Malei Tampak Primary School are still pending while Enganglok Macha Primary School was found constructed at another location following a different model not approved by the department.
Speaking to media persons at DM College campus today, AMSU secretary general Bikramjit Thongam claimed that Rs 6,00,000 has already been released for constructing Enganglok Achouba Primary School out of the estimated cost of Rs 8,00,000 lakh.
Another Rs 15,68,846 out of the estimated cost of Rs 32,84,000 earmarked for Malei Tampak Primary School has also been released, he claimed and added that both the schools, however, are non-existent till date.
Further claiming that Enganglok Macha Primary School was also found constructed at another location following a different model not approved by the department, he maintained that Rs 24,30,837 of the estimated cost of  Rs 32,84,000 has been released in the name of the same school.
Saying that AMSU had already apprised  the authority concerned of the mal- practices and asked them to take actions against the culprits, Bikramjit asserted that one teacher namely Tek-cham Bikomdash depicting the students union in a bad light over the matter on November 18 is uncalled for and condemnable.
Claiming that AMSU had never mentioned his name (the teacher) in particular for the wrongdoing but his deed proves  otherwise, he asked why the construction of Enganglok Achouba Primary School is not yet completed and why the site and structure for  the same were changed.
Bikramjit claimed that they have come across the cheques signed by Bikom-dash for withdrawing mon- ey in the name of constructing the non-existent schools.
Asking why the Government is not taking any legal action when there are documents to prove his wrong- doing, he further questioned why the official documents are with Bikomdash when he no longer is  a staff of  the ZEO.
