IMPHAL, Nov 2 : K Dingku and Kh Manjit clinched the men's doubles title in the 65th State Open Badminton Championship being underway at Manipur Badminton Association's Indoor Stadium inside DM College Campus.
Bishnupur's Dingku and Manjit duo who recently won a bronze medal at the Bahrain International Challenge badminton tournament, defeated Kh Punshiba (IW) and L Unilkumar Singh (Tbl) pair 21-7, 21-12 to secure the top honours today.
Earlier, they eased past the pair of Bidyasagar Salam (IW) and S Jeotichandra (IE) 21-13, 21-18 to make it to the final today.
In the previous round (quarter finals), Dingku and Manjit who got a first round walkover defeated M Dinachandra Singh (IE) and Ningthoujam Saimond (IW) 21-7, 21-11.
Kh Punshiba (IW) and L Unilkumar Singh (Tbl) pair entered the final beating L Momo and N Hitler 21-13, 21-6 today.
Kh Punshiba and L Unilkumar Singh pair, in the quarter final overcame the Bishnupur pair of H Johnson and RK Henry 21-7, 21-9.
They secured an easy 21-3, 21-8 over Imphal West's pair M Aruba and Ng Ronel Singh in the first round match staged on November 30.
U-17 Boys singles
Imphal West's Kasprov Ahanthem, Prithingamba Ngairangbam and Longjam Ronaldo registered first round wins in the boys U-17 singles competition today.
Kasprov made easy work of Asem Surjit of IE 21-5, 21-12 while Prithingamba eased to a 21-6, 21-4 win over Rahul Mutum of Imphal East and Longjam Ronaldo edged out Y Johnson of IE 21-16, 18-21, 21-18.
Thoubal's Yumnam Sudhir and Longjam Bikash also earned next round berth beating Bishnupur's Kh Netij Acceber of Bishnupur 21-10, 21-14 and Laiphrakpam Nikhil Singh 21-6, 21-10.
M Brajamani Singh and L Brickson of Bishnupur also made it to the next round, overwhelming Kh James of Imphal West 21-8, 21-1 and E Richard of Kakching 21-15, 21-15 respectively.
Imphal East's N Avinash Singh also earned the next round ticket securing an easy 21-5, 21-12 win over N Max Singh of Imphal West.
U-15 girls singles
The day also saw A Lanchenbi and Laishram Nandita of Imphal East posting first round wins in the U-15 girls singles competition.  A Lanchenbi saw off A Devika of Imphal West 21-15, 21-15 while L Nandita had a hard fought 21-18, 26-24 win over Chanulembi Sapam of Imphal East to secure the next round berths.
