KANGPOKPI, Dec 2: Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA), Kangpokpi District Chiefs Joint Coordination Committee on Land Matters (KDCJCCLM) and Asian Highway Land Affected Villages Chiefs/Chairman Association (AHLAVCCA) have served five days ultimatum to the State Government to initiate due procedures for compen-sating the land owners affected by expansion of the Asian Highway.
The three associations also threatened to impose a 48 hours total shutdown in Kangpokpi district if the demand is not met within the stipulated time.
In a press meet held today at Saparmeina, Lun- thang Haokip, speaker of SAHILCA, said that the  people of Kangpokpi are happy to see development coming in the district .
Continuing that they have discussed the issues regarding  the highway expansion project with Gov- ernment representatives on separate occasions, he claimed that the Government is resorting to delaying tactics by ignoring the sentiment of the people.
He also said that the Chief Minister is not giving any appointment to discuss the issue.
"We have resolved to impose a 48 hours shutdown from the midnight of December 7 if the Government doesn't come up with any concrete solution within the stipulated time," he cautioned.
