Complain filed at MHRC against alleged police brutality

IMPHAL, Dec 4: A complain has been raised at Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) by one Salam Ratan (46) of Iramsiphai Mayai Leikai alleging Wangoi Police of harrasment towards him.
Salam Ratan was picked up by the Police on the night of December 2 at around 11 pm from his locality.
Speaking to media Salam Ratan said on the night of December 2, he was pick-up along with Khomdram John (30) of the same locality and was beaten by the police and had repeatedly asked them where they had kept the gun. He told the media that he and Khomdram John were kept at lock-up and a couple of hours later, Laishram Bisheshore (40) from the same locality was also brought and put in the lock-up. They were let go the next day and were warned by a police officer not to complain or upload anything related to the incident in social media.
Salam Ratan showed the media marks left from being subjected to harrasment by the police including swelling on the face.
Salam Ratan has no previous police report or complaint for any connection with illegal outfits and earns a living by running a local tea hotel.
