International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Imphal East, Imphal West and Tamenglong jointly organised the International Day of Persons with Disabilities observation programme at the conference hall, ADR Building, Lamphel Court complex today.
The programme which was conducted under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, informed a press release issued by DLSA, IW.
The programme was attended by A Guneshwar Sharma, MJS, District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West, Lamkhanpau Tonsing, MJS, Judge, Special Court, NDPS, Manipur, Ojesh Mutum, MJS, Member Secretary MASLSA and N Nilachandra (Advocate), President, All Manipur Bar Association.
As a resource person, Th Premlata Devi, Advocate, Panel lawyer, DLSA Imphal East deliberated on various topics on the theme 'Leadership and participation of Persons with Disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 world'.
Judicial officers, panel lawyers, front office and PLVs of DLSA Imphal West, Imphal West and Tamenglong also participated in today's programme.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was also observed today at the residence of Dr Soraisham Manaoton, the intending candidate from Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency in the upcoming State Legislative election. The programme was jointly organised by Society for Disable Care, Hiyangthang and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block Congress Committee.
Huidrom Leisemba, general secretary, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block Congress Committee and Thokchom Sanajaoba, advisor, Society for Disable Care graced the occasion as the presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, secretary of Society for Disable Care, Heisnam Asharani stressed on the need to apply for disable certificates issued by the Government to avail the numerous benefits provided by the Government under various welfare schemes for the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
She further stated that the family members and relatives of PWDs should provide the needed love, care and support to such individuals and to nurture their skills and talents to ensure that they lead a normal life. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Soraisham Manaoton said that all should make concerted efforts to uplift the PWDs and to provide a platform for them so that they become self reliant.
He also highlighted that the Government should take up special initiatives for the well being of PWDs.
He further maintained that he has been extending best possible support to differently abled persons in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Constituency and assured that he will continue to work for the welfare of them.
As a part of today's programme, Dr S Manaoton presented shawls and gifts to around 60 elderly differently abled persons.
