YAS Minister calls for peace and development in Tengnoupal

Minister of YAS and Water Resources, Letpao Haokip has said that development can be achieved only through healthy competition among the people, animosity and wars should be waged not against each other, but against diseases and other ills of the society.
Letpao Haokip made the statement while attending the closing ceremony of  the 35th Annual Sports Meet of Aimol Students’ Union at Aimol Tampak on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that he has already initiated developmental works in various areas of Tengnoupal district while adding that a public leader or representative should not wait for election to carry out development works.
He appealed to the public to not get carried away by ‘old-school’ promises of development after election while assuring to improve the roads leading to Aimol Khullen from Pallel Bazar.
The Minister also announced his plans to set up smart villages in Tengnoupal and provide free mobile phones and wi-fi connectivity for the convenience of the people especially the students.
In regards to the ADC Bill, Letpao Haokip said that there should be ‘omissions and commissions’ to the Bill so that an amicable Bill can be presented in the Assembly floor.
While urging the people of both the hills and valley to not build distrust and enmity, the Minister stated that he has been taking a pivotal role in bringing a good resolution to the issue.
Letpao Haokip further mentioned that the Chief Minister is also in favour of bestowing some powers to the District Council.
The event was attended by LS Seikhojang Baite, president Kuki Chiefs’ Association Tengnoupal; Mangte Joshep Aimol, social worker; and Korsuala Aimol, Chief of Aimol Satu village as presidium members.
