Positive cases rise by 32, death toll by one

IMPHAL, Dec 5: The State’s Covid-19 death toll has climbed to 1982 following the death of an individual from Imphal West during the last 24 hours.
As per a report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the deceased had co-morbidities and had first dose of Covid vaccine.
On the other hand, 1,484 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and 32 people including two CAPF personnel were confirmed positive for Covid-19 at RIMS (2), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (25) which puts the daily positivity rate at 2.2 per cent.
Incidentally, the State recorded positivity rate of 2 per cent yesterday.
The 30 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal East (11), Imphal West (14), Thoubal (1) and Bishnupur (4), informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and Covid-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.  
Chandel district recorded the highest daily positivity rate at 7.4 per cent followed by Bishnupur 3.7 per cent, Imphal East 3.7 per cent and Imphal West 2.9 per cent.
In the meantime, 40 persons who were undergoing treatment for Covid-19 had recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (4), RIMS (1), JNIMS (10) and CCCs (25).
The cumulative number of Covid-19 positive cases now stands at 1,25,360 (general population 1,20,927 and Central security personnel 4,433).
This figure includes 353 active cases (general population 320 and Central security personnel 33) and 1,23,025 recovered cases (general population 1,18,630 and Central security personnel 4,395).
The recovery rate as on Sunday is 98.14 per cent.
On the other hand, a total of 493 D-type oxygen cylinders and 147 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State yesterday.
The cumulative number of Covid doses administered in the State has reached 21,92,315 (first dose 12,90,214 and second dose 9,02,101). It includes 7347 doses administered on Saturday.
Till December 4, 65.54 per cent of the State’s total population has received the first dose of Covid vaccine  while 45.83 per cent has received both the first and second doses.
