CFBM encourages wearing of helmets during vehicle rallies

IMPHAL, Dec 5: Change For Better Manipur (CFBM) has appealed to the political leaders and intending candidates organising bike and vehicle rallies in connection with the upcoming Assembly election to ensure that the participants of these rallies wear helmets at all times.
Speaking to media persons, Dimbeshwor Sharma, founder of CFBM, remarked that during rallies carried out as part of an election campaign, traffic police do not impose fines on the people driving without helmets as done under normal circumstances.
Stating that not wearing helmets is illegal and dangerous, he expressed wonder that even during the rallies held under the aegis of the State Government, participants do not wear helmets.
"This begs the question if laws can be broken depending on the place and person. The whole display of lawlessness in the name of election is unfortunate", he asserted.
Dimbeshwor Sharma further urged the people to wear helmets while participating in bike/vehicle rallies and follow traffic rules as citizens of a democratic nation.
