Mega rally on climate change held

SENAPATI, Dec 4: To set an example in the fight against climate change, NSS volunteers of DBCM and DBHSS on Saturday organised a Mega rally under the theme ‘Youth building momentum for climate change’.
The rally was participated by local leaders, students, staff and NSS volunteers from DBC and DBHSS. It was flagged off by Fr Sebastian Manianchira, SDB from the Assembly ground of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram. The rally passed through Kavanam village and culminated at Don Bosco College, Maram.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Sebastian Jose, SDB the rector of the college stated that if the NSS volunteers and youth take ambitious, comprehensive and urgent action now, they could limit the impact of climate crisis & water scarcity and ensure a safe and healthy future for the world.
Fr Shilanand Kerketta, vice principal of the college exhorted the NSS volunteers to protect the people from the worst impacts of climate change while adding that critical services like water, sanitation, hygiene, healthcare and education must be adapted to withstand extreme weather events and climate variability.
He mentioned that NSS volunteers must also receive climate education and green skills to prepare for the effects of climate change.
Later, the participants took a pledge to create a momentum for climate change.
The programme concluded with final blessings by Fr Paul Adahe, Principal of DBHSS.
