IMPHAL, Dec 5 : BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda has categorically stated that a certain political party taking credit for the shifting of Assam Rifles from the Kangla Fort would be a grave injustice as it was achieved due to the fearlessness of Manipuri mothers  .
Addressing a one day political conference held today at Singjamei Oinam Thingel as the chief guest , A Sharda Devi  thanked the people of Manipur for giving BJP which was esta- blished in 1980 the opportunity to serve them.
"Though India got independence about 75 years ago, the people did not get the real taste of freedom for over 70 years," Sharda said  and added that the women of Manipur also vividly remember the atrocities meted out by the security forces during the Congress rule.
"It was the people who demanded the removal of Assam Rifles from the Kangla Fort in the first place," she continued and       asserted that the Congress party attempting to take political mileage out of shifting Assam Rifles from Kangla by seeing the womenfolk as their vote bank is quite surprising.
"As a woman and a chief of the BJP State unit, I can proudly say that it was the mothers of the State that ousted Assam Rifles from Kangla Fort," Sharda asserted and added that the process of the removal of Assam Rifles was expedited by the historic nude protest that was staged in front of Kangla gate over the 'brutal murder of Thangjam Manoroma.
Saying that women who protested the excesses of security forces were often 'assaulted' by the security forces during the  Congress rule in Manipur by firing rubber bullets, tea gas shells etc, Sharda maintained that no political party should take credit for the valour of the Manipur women.
Sharda called upon the womenfolks to resist any attempt from the politicians to buy their votes.
Continuing that majority of the people of Singjamei Assembly Constituency are well educated, Sharda said that she doesn't hear any news of bribery in job recruitment at Singjamei.
Maintaining that Singja-mei is a model constituency among the Assembly Constituencies, she urged the people to continue supporting the BJP in the ensuing Assembly election.
"Let the Thambal (Lotus) bloom again in the Singjamei AC," the BJP chief said. MLA Y Khemchand, who also is the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, stated that he won the election in 2017 due to the non fulfilment of one's duty by the previous MLA of Singjamei AC.
"I have learnt a valuable lesson that no politicians will win election if one doesn't do good work," Khemchand said
Continuing that the people of Manipur speak highly of development in Singjamei AC now, Khemchand maintained that the rate of corruption would surely fall in Manipur if the people exert pressure upon their respective MLAs not to take money for recruitment in Government departments as done in Singjamei. It is truly unfortunate that certain people take wealthiness  as a qualification to become  politicians, the Speaker said and asked what good will come out of those who contest the election by investing money earned in short duration through unethical means. He then urged the gathering to extend support in creating a better Singjamei.
