Vijay Hazare Trophy Manipur suffer 10 wicket loss to Assam

IMPHAL, Feb 21 : Manipur crashed to a 10-wicket defeat in the hands of Assam in its plate group opener of this year's Vijay Hazare Trophy at IC-Gurunanak College, Chennai today.
Owing to wet outfield, the match was delayed and reduced to 33 overs per side.
Let to bat first, Manipur could manage 108 for 6 in 28 overs before rain stopped the innings.
Due to the rain, Assam's innings was further reduced to 25 overs and were given a revised target of 117 which they achieved in 15.4 overs without any wicket loss.
Narsingh Yadav (18), Langlonyamba Meitankeisha-ngbam (25) and Kangabam Priyojit (25) were significant contributors in Manipur's innings before Pallavkumar Das smashed an unbeaten 75 (with Denish Das 36) drove Assam to an easy finish.
Rajakuddin Ahamed of Assam scalped Narasingh Yadav  and Jayanta (lbw out on 0) earlier in Manipur's innings as his compatriots Pritam Das, Amlanjyoti Das and Gokul Sharma chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Manipur will next play Uttarakhand at SSN College Ground on February 23.
