Teachers suspended

IMPHAL, Feb 23 (DIPR): Eight Government teachers posted at Lamdeng Government High School under Lamsang Assembly Constituency have been suspended for not attending school today.
The teachers were found absent while Education Minister S Rajen Singh paid a surprise visit at the school.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at his office at South Block, Old Secretariat, Imphal, the Minister said the teachers were found absent during the surprise visit today.
He added that suspension process of eight more teachers of Lamlong Higher Secondary School who were also found absent during the surprise visit is under process.
Meanwhile, prior to the press conference, the Minister interacted with several representatives of agitating college teachers regarding the pending implementation of 7th UGC Pay. During the interaction, he assured that the 7th UGC and Regulations, 2018 will be implemented within the month of March.
He also appealed to the college teachers to resume their normal work since there is a very limited time to make up for the lost academic period and prepare for the semester examinations. He reminded the teachers that the semester examinations have been fixed to be held in the month of April.
Commissioner, Higher and Technical Education, M Harekrisna, Director, Education (U), Dr Rangitabali Waikhom were also present during the press meet.
