MNCA Plate Tournament CRAU beat PCC by 4 wickets in quarter final thriller

IMPHAL, Feb 24 : CRAU, Khamnam Bazar made their way into the semifinals of the 5th MNCA Plate Tournament beating PCC, Mayai Koibi by 4 wickets in a thrilling quarter final encounter today here at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground.
PCC chose to bat first after winning the toss and posted a total of 192 runs losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. CRAU however put up a brave show in the last over to finish off the chase at 196 for 6 with Rajkumar Herachandra hitting a brilliant four to the deep backward square leg on his way to unbeaten 38 in 48 balls.
Charoibam Tyson was the topscorer of the Mayai Koibi side with a commendable knock of 42 runs and Thokchom Anand was second highest run getter with 37 runs in his name.
PCC's innings saw Ayekpam Rakesh bag three wickets for 38 runs in 8 overs which contained a maiden while Lamabam Jotin and Tonjam Sudhir earned two wickets each.
In the chase, Dennis Khangemba got the game going adding 42 runs off 60 balls despite losing Ayekpam Amitkumar on duck in the fourth over and Ayekpam Rakesh and Takhellambam Kala added 23 runs each to keep the scoreboard ticking.
 Rajkumar Herajit then anchored well for the seventh wicket stand with Lamabam Jotin (21) to steer home PCC to 3 wicket win.
Mathurabashimayum Jobanta bowled well and fetched 2 crucial wickets offering only 22 runs in his spell of 8 overs which contained a maiden, and it considerably helped CRAU scoring in check before Herajit's last over heroic shifted the fate of the game.
Thokchom Anand, Luchinghunbam Meitei and Thokchom Santosh of PCC also chipped in with a wicket apiece in CRAU's innings.
RK Herachandra was eventually named man of the match.
ESU, Wangkhei will face KSDO, Kiyamgei in the second quarter final match tomorrow at the same venue.
