Sub-Jr Men and Women Hockey C'ship HU win big in men's Pool-B opener

IMPHAL, Feb 24 : Hockey Union (HU), Lairikyengbam Leikai opened its men's Pool-B league campaign with a 12-2 win against MLHU, Langthabal in the 8th State Level Sub-Junior Men and Women Hockey Championship currently underway at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium under the aegis of Manipur Hockey.
HU dominated the game right from the beginning and were 5-1 ahead till the first quarter before sealing a 12-2 win at the end.
K Mykolin opened up the scoring for the winning side early in the 4th minut and A Sachin doubled the lead in the 10th minute before Sushanta M (10', 52'), M Nganba (15', 54'), Kh Somikanta (20', 38'), Y Bidyananda (32', 42') all scored two goal each.
A Suresh was able to convert a penalty corner to add to HU's tally in the 39th minute and M Manimatum too converted a field goal in the 51st minute to help HU finish big.
Both the goals of the losing side were on the other hand scored  by S Sanson in the 18th and 45th minutes.
Meanwhile in the Pool A league match of the day, KHSC , Khongman romped past AJSA, Jiribam 11-0 as L Sushilkumar hit a treble (2', 15', 56') including the opener. N Suraj (31', 36') and M Benarjit (6', 44') scored two goals each for the winning side while the remaining were added by Ksh Borish (28'), Harish L (17'), W Paikhomba (27') and Thoiba (50) as AJSA failed to open up its scoring account till the end.
In the second Pool B league match, Bishnupur Hockey won 3-0 over SEYO, Singjamei thanks to goals by N Rojit (17') and Th Bikramjit (51', 55').
The opening match for the beginners, on the other hand saw Tamenglong District team and KYUC, Konthoujam playing out a goalless draw.
