Model Club post 6 wicket win in MNCA Elite Tournament

IMPHAL, Feb 24 : Model Club, Chingamakha after a spell of three defeats finally opened its winning account in the 5th MNCA Elite Tournament with a 6-wicket win against REYS, Nagamapal at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam today.
REYS won the toss and opted to bat first but bundled out on a meagre total of 130 runs in 35.4 overs as Model Club bowlers made a concerted effort. Mintu Chandra (21), Nongthombam Ajit Singh (20) and Leishangthem Bishorjit (23) were only significant scorers in this innings which witnessed Loukrakpam Superhit, Thounaojam Jenius, Mangi Sharma and Veteshor Sharma of Model Club claiming two wickets each. Yumnam Karnajit then scored a half century (55 off 62 balls) and Th Deepak (27 not out) and Viking (21) played their part to set the pace of the chase before Th Iboyaima (6) hit a four to help Model Club reach the target in 32.5 overs with 6 wickets left in the hand.
REYS's Jitendra, Pradeep, L Bishorjit and Mintu Chandra all picked up a wicket apiece in Model Club's innings. Y Karnajit of Model Club was adjudged man of the match.
CHAMP will play FORCE, next in the Group A league match tomorrow.
