Police fine SOPs violators

The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc. to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
During today's drive, 214 persons were detained and released later after warning and a sum of Rs 28,000/- was collected as fine from SOPs violators, said a statement by the Police.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOPs shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
