Ukhrul,  Feb 24: Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamson today assured the student community of Ukhrul Higher Secondary school (UHSS) and Hunphun villagers that the status quo would be maintained and will preserve the educational institution from any individual or organization's interference.
A protest was staged today by the students of  UHSS and Hunphun villagers today at Viewland to prevent the erection of boundary pillars by Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL).
A brief confrontation between the two parties, prevented the erection of the pillars. Following which, the Hunphun village authority enforced total shut down in the  District Headquarters to protest against the dictatorial and arrogant attitude of TNL.
Later, a joint representation was submitted to the DC Ukhrul, for his immediate intervention and to take up necessary action.
The representation mentioned the land donated for the construction of Ukhrul Higher Secondary School (UHSS), dispute on school playground, UHSS boys hostel and UHSS teachers quarter.
It also mentioned the Court's observation on the dispute of title and ownership of the land, "that is to maintain status quo until adjudication of the matter of title and ownership of the suit land."
The Ukhrul DC, Joseph Pauline Kamson after going through the representation assured the student and villagers of Hunphun to take up all necessary measures to maintain the Status quo  and to further informed the higher authorities on the matter.
Later,  the Hunphun Village Frontal organization briefed the media on the land dispute and elaborated the details of the land donated for the construction of the educational institution at Wino Bazar.
