Active cases rise to 41 from 36 in 24 hrs

IMPHAL, Feb 24: After the total number of COVID-19 active cases in the State dropped to 36 yesterday, the figure climbed to 41 today as seven people were found infected by the virus during the last 24 hours while two Covid patients were discharged following recovery during the last period.
According to a press release issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman and Additional Director (Health) Dr Khoi-rom Sasheekumar Mangang, seven persons were tested positive at JNIMS, Shija Hospital and Hillside Hospital. They are residents of Imphal East (2), Imphal West (3) and Bishnupur (2).
With no report of Covid related death during the last 24 hours, the death toll stands at 373.
On the other hand, two Covid infected people have been discharged from home isolation following recovery.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 29,250 (general population 25,818 and Central security personnel 3,432).
This figure includes 41 actives cases (general population 30 and Central security personnel 11) and 28,836 discharged cases (general population 25,419 and Central security personnel 3,417).
It has been already notified that all air passengers coming to the State from the five States of Maharashtra, Kerala, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat would be tested for COVID-19 on their arrival at Imphal airport with effect from today.
Meanwhile, 1708 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 today. So far, 43,414 people have been vaccinated against the contagion in the State.
Of all the people who have been vaccinated so far, 29,666 are healthcare workers, it said.
