7th UGC Pay to be impleme

IMPHAL, Feb 25: In a bid to give a major relief to agitating college teachers, the Government has issued an order implementing the 7th UGC Pay, said Education Minister S Rajen today.
He said the 7th UGC Pay will be effected from 1st of July this year.
Speaking to media persons at his office at Old Secretariat, S Rajen said the order to implement the 7th UGC Pay was issued by the Commissioner (Higher and Technical Education) today.
He said while the 7th Pay for 2016 January 1 to 2019 March 31 will be given ‘notionally’, the pay from 2020 April 1 onwards will be paid in cash.
The increment on the other hand, from 2019 April 1 to 2020 March 31 will be given in two instalments towards GPF.
The Education Minister stated that these provisions were decided in consultation with the Finance Department to provide financial relief to the Government and also address the plight of the teachers.
Further, the UGC Regulations and service conditions of the Government college teachers will also be decided later, he said.
Stating that the education system of the State should be improved, he appealed to the FEGOCTA (Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations) and AMCTA (All Manipur College Teachers’ Association) to lift the cease work strike and resume normal physical classes from tomorrow.
On the other hand, the Minister said 15 more school teachers of Senapati and Kangpokpi district have been suspended for not attending school.
The Education Minister has been paying surprise visits to Government schools and colleges and so far, 45 teachers have been suspended for not attending school.
The Ministerial team visited Hengbung High School and Maram High School today. 6 teachers were found absent at Hengbung High School while 9 were found absent at Maram High School, he said.
He also advised teachers of Junior Primary Schools, Upper Primary Schools and Lower primary Schools to take up necessary preparations for smooth conduct of the classes when the schools are reopened.
