26th KHASA Tournament KYC, GMFDI, HYC advance to next stage

CCPUR, Feb 25
Khousabung YC (A), GMFDI and Harmontlang YC sailed through the quarter finals round of the ongoing 26th KHASA Tournament which is underway at Khoirentak Khuman playground, Churachandpur district after overcoming their respective opponents in today’s last group stage matches.
In today’s first Group G match, Khousabung YC (A) registered a comprehensive 5-0 win over Gangpibul YC.  Minlien struck a treble in the 12th, 20th & 55 th minute, while S Tony (50') and S Boilun (57') contributed a goal each.
The second match of the day saw GMFDI rout Khoirentak Khuman YC (B) by 4 goals to nothing.  Right from the first whistle, the match was controlled by GMFDI. Boipuneo grabbed a hat trick as he was bang on target in the 20th, 58th and 62nd minute. Thangminjoy found the back of their rivals’ net in the 66th minute to cap the GMFDI’s 4-0 victory.
Meanwhile, Harmontlang YC clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Khousabung YC (B) in the Pool F last match today. HYC rode on the 45th minute goal by Chungvarthang  to book a berth in the next round.
It may be mentioned that K Khuman YC (A), Tuikong YC, Khoirentak Khunou YC, NNYC have advanced to the knockout rounds.
The knockout rounds will begin from tomorrow.
VOLLEYBALL
Tuikong YC beat B Khonom YC in the women’s volleyball while Bunglon YC (A) registered a win against Muolhoih YC and B Khonom YC defeated Leisenbung YC to enter semi-finals.
