IMPHAL, Feb 28 : One teenager was killed while three others sustained injuries in a violent clash between two groups of neighbours at Naorem Leikai Amujao (Sofa) Leirak, Imphal West district under Singjamei police station.
A violent clash erupted between the two groups purportedly over an old animosity or disagreement at around 11.30 pm yesterday.
The clash turned deadly as one group resorted to firing which killed one teenager and injured three others.
This led to burning of the house belonging to the one who allegedly opened fire.  
According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as one Naorem Casper (18) s/o N Somen Moirangcha of Naorem Leikai Amujao Leirak. He was hit by a bullet on the chest and he succumbed to the injuries at Raj Medicity.
The injured victims have been identified as Naorem Inao (40) w/o Naba, Naorem Amarjit (28) s/o N Lembi and Naorem Bung (34) s/o Nimaichand.
However, information culled from the spot says that the deceased is one RK Casper (17) s/o late Dhanasana and the number of people who sustained injuries is eight.
The other injured victims have been identified as Naorem Thoibisana (36), Naorem Phulendro (32), Naorem Barun (20), Naorem Banish (17) and Naorem Hemabati (45).
Enraged by the firing and the resultant casualties, people of the locality torched the house of Longjam Pito (60) of Kakwa Huidrom Leikai last night itself.
Pito was living in the house together with his three sons and three daughters. The house was totally reduced to cinders.
While the house of Pito is located on the northern side of Amujao (Sofa) Leirak, the house of deceased victim Casper is located on the southern side  of Amujao Leirak.
Meanwhile, Longjam Achou (76) and his son Longjam Rakesh (43) who were allegedly involved in last night’s firing have been taken into the custody of Singjamei police station.
Two firearms have been seized from their possession.
The house of Longjam Achou was also set ablaze this morning but it was brought under control by Manipur Fire Service.
Meanwhile, the Imphal West District Magistrate has clamped restrictions under Section 144, CrPC in some areas of Naorem Leikai adjoining Amujao Leirak.
The residents of this area have been notified that they should not venture out of their homes.
The area where restrictions have been imposed is bounded by Tayenjam Leirak in the North, Naorem Leikai Lai Leirak in the South, Naorem Leikai Penakhongbam Leirak in the East and Liwa Lambi in the West. On the other hand, an FIR has been registered at Singjamei police station regarding the incident under IPC Sections 307/506/326 and 34 and Section 25 (1-C) of the Arms Act.
