Science has given us new light : S Rajen

Science has given a new light to the society, said Education Minister S Rajen Singh while speaking as chief guest on the occasion of National Science Day 2021 held at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) today.
Stressing the importance of Science in today’s world, Rajen said that the National Science Day was observed to show respect to “our scientists” for their vast contribution towards humankind and development.
“We all should honour the endeavours and sacrificial spirits of our scientists for humanity. The development of Science and technology has also made our lives easier. It has also saved us from many fatal diseases,” he said.
Advancement in Science and technology has brought many changes. The world has also become a global village. Communication networks have also become faster, he added.
Encouraging students, Rajen observed that the future of the State will be decided by the younger generations and students should focus on their studies. They will succeed in life only when they work with firm determination and objective, he said.
A Science quiz competition was also held as a part of the observance. In the oral Science quiz competition, students of Little Flower School, Sangaiprou stood first while Nirmalabas High School, Mothers’ Pride Academy stood second and third respectively. Lamlong Higher Secondary School secured consolation prize.
In addition, a talk on the theme, “Future of STI: Impact on Education, Skills and Works” was also conducted. Professor N Rajmuhon Singh, Department of Chemistry, Manipur University attended the programme as the guest speaker.
Commissioner Education (S), T Ranjit Singh, and Director Education (S) L Nandakumar also graced the occasion as president and guest of honour respectively.
The observance was jointly organised by the Science Unit, Department of Education (S) and SSA, Manipur.
