MNCA Elite Tournament : CHAMP beat Al-Ameen by 2 wickets

IMPHAL, Mar 1 : CHAMP CC, Khagempalli culminated their Group (A) campaign in the 5th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament with a 2 wicket beating of Al-Ameen, Lilong at Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground, Luwangsangbam.
Al-Ameen, after winning the toss, chose to bat first and stacked up a meagre total of 170 runs for 9 in their quota of 40 overs.
Farooque scored an unbeaten 55 off 105 balls and Mustaque gathered 33 in this innings which saw Sunder, Somorjit and Azan Khan of CHAMP share two wickets each to exert a strong pressure upon their rivals.
CHAMP's chase however was not easy as Al-Ameen bowlers put in a disciplined effort. Ch Bonny set the tone for the chase earlier with a 92 ball 79 and Nicholson forged 28 before a responsible last over stand between Somorjit (17 not out) and Ravisankar's (16 not out) that steered CHAMP to 172 for 7 in 39.3 for the 2 wicket win.
It was the fourth win for the team in five matches.
Ch Bonny who topscored for CHAMP was named man of the match.
CYCLONE CC, Thangmeiband will play TRAU, Kwakeithel in a Group B league match tomorrow.
