Manipur end Vijay Hazare campaign on sour note

IMPHAL, Mar 1 : Manipur's plate group campaign in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, 2020-21 ended winless as they succumbed to Meghalaya by 83 runs in the fifth and the final match of the tournament today at TI Murugappa Ground, Chennai.
Meghalaya won the toss and elected to bat first before securing their fourth win in five matches to finish second in the group table next to Assam.
Meghalaya posted a mammoth total of 303 runs for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs riding on Abhay Nagi's brisk 30-ball 56 (not out) after Rohit Shah (44), Lerry (43), DB Ravi Teja (45), Sanjay (46) made good contributions and then restricted impatient Manipur to 220 runs in 48.4 overs.
L Kishan Singha was the pick of the Manipur bowlers in Meghalaya's innings as he dismissed two for 38 runs in 10 overs. Priyojit K and Somorjit Salam too earned two wickets each.
In reply, Narsing Yadav (36) before Langlonyamba blazed off 83 runs in 104 balls with a bid to keep the chase alive but their partners on the other end fell easy prey to Meghalaya's Sanjay (4/21 in 9.4 overs), Akash Kumar (2/31 in 7 overs) and Dippu (2/39 in 8 overs).
