Awareness programme on Prevention of Substance and Drug abuse held

A programme on 'Awareness on Prevention of Substance & Drug Abuse' organized jointly by the District Administration Imphal East, District Social Welfare Officer, Imphal East and Apunba Luwangsangbam Clubs was held at Luwangsangbam Makha Leikai Community Hall, Luwangsangbam today.
The function was attended by P Bimola Devi, adhyaksha, Imphal East Zilla Parishad; Khumanthem Diana Devi, DC; Shamim Ahmad Shah, ADM, Imphal East; Ngangom Uttam Singh, director, Social Welfare; Kshetrimayum Ravikumar (IPS) , SDPO, Lamlai; Elangbam Amuthoi (MCS), BDO Heingang CD Block; Salam Rajen Singh, personal secretary to the Chief Minister and  Sanjenbam Angou Singh, pradhan as presidium members.
Ngangom Uttam, Ksh Jibanmala, project director, Kripa Foundation and  Kshetrimayum Ravikumar were the resource persons at today's function. Ngangom Uttam emphasized on the need for a strong and friendly relationship between parents and children to prevent drug abuse.
Ksh Jibanmala spoke about the behavioural change which took place on the children who used drugs and the need to know the minute change of behaviour by their children. Ravi Kumar highlighted the steps being taken up by the Police Administration and the need to make aware of the NDPS Act.
P Bimola mentioned the strive by the Chief Minister on the War on Drug and appealed to all the members present to cooperate the State’s effort to eliminate use of drugs.
The programme was concluded with a pledge to eliminate the use of psycho-active substances from Heingang AC from today itself.
