Infernos reduce 2 houses

KANGPOKPI, Mar 1 : Raging fires reduced two houses to cinders and properties worth lakhs went up in smoke in two separate incidents at Kangpokpi district in the last few days.
A raging fire suspected to be from an electric short circuit reportedly burnt down the residential house of Paominthang Chongloi at Ichaigojang village in Saikul sub division of Kangpokpi district on February 25 morning at around 8.30.
Household properties save for a few bags of paddy were completely reduced to ashes despite all efforts on the part of the 38 Assam Rifles personnel posted at Saikul, KSO Saikul volunteers and others. The properties and assets burnt down are estimated to be approximately Rs 7 lakh.
Ex-MDC of ADC Sadar Hills, Thangkam Lupheng immediately rushed to the spot and met the family while providing basic requirements and assistance.
In another similar incident, an inferno suspected to be from an electric short circuit reduced the residential house of Thangchon Lhouvum of Awlmun village in Kangchup Geljang sub division in Kangpokpi on February 27 morning at around 11.30.
All household properties and assets including Rs 1.8 lakh in cash were reportedly burnt in the fire apart from various important documents such as one 2 wheeler RC book, SBI and UBI bank passbooks, ATM cards, Voter Cards, PAN cards, etc.
Kangchup Area CSOs immediately provided aid to the victims with basic requirements including rice, utensils, clothing, etc.
However, no human injury or loss have been reported in both the incidents.
