Ministerial team visits colleges, absentees to face music

IMPHAL, Mar 2 (DIPR): A team led by Education Minister S Rajen Singh visited several colleges and schools today.
The team visited Malom Megha Government High School, Nambol Higher Secondary School, Oinam Girls’ Government High School, Royal Academy of Law, Oinam, Thambal Marik College, Oinam, Nambol L Sanoi College and SK Women’s College.
At Malom Megha Government High School, the Minister inspected the newly constructed and renovated classrooms. He interacted with the students and advised the students as well as teachers to wear face masks and practice Covid Appropriate Behaviours. He also advised the staff and the students to keep the school campus neat and clean.
During his visit at Nambol Higher Secondary School, two teaching staff were found absent while checking the attendance register. Following this, he instructed the authority concerned  to take up appropriate action against the absentees.
The Education Minister was however pleased to see the good attendance of students at S Kula Women’s College, Nambol.
Three staff of the college including one non-teaching staff were found staying away from duty during the visit at S Kula Women's College. Royal Academy of Law, Oinam was also found conducting semester examinations during the visit.
Later, the team visited L Sanoi College, Nambol and inspected the campus. Five teachers of the college were found absent during the visit at the college.
As informed by the Principal, Thambal Marik College, Oinam and Vice Principal, Nambol L Sanoi College, normal classes were conducted at the colleges today besides the scrutiny for student union elections.
During the visits, the Minister instructed the college authorities to provide face masks to students in the classrooms.
The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner, Higher & Technical Education, M Harekrishna Singh, Director, Education (U), Dr Rangitabali Waikhom and other officials of the Department.
