IMPHAL, Apr 10: Umang Lai Kanba Apunba Lup (UKAL) asserted that the tussle happened among Tangkhul Saba, Nurabi Sabi and Thougaloi Sabi during Ikop Ningthou Haraoba violated the ritualistic traditions of Lai Haraoba therefore UKAL prohibited the entry of the respective individuals in any of the Lai Haraobung ( place where Lai Haraoba festival is observed).
Speaking about the incident during a press meet held at the office of UKAL today in Konung Mamang, Mutum Nganba (Maniton) convenor of UKAL said that during the Ikop Ningthou Lai Haraoba observance at Samaram Maning Leikai in Thoubal district, Oinam Marjit (Tangkhul Saba), Laishram Ibetombi (Nurabi Sabi) and Nongthangmayum Thoibi ( Thougaloi sabi) violated the protocols of Lai Haraoba observance and got into a tussle which is really unfortunate.
Since three of them violated the laid protocols of Lai Haraoba observance, UKAL has imposed a ban on the entry of the above individuals in any of the Lai Haraoba festivals and they will be held responsible for any outcome if they defy the ban imposed on them.
Such an incident has put the ritualistic tradition of Tangkhul Nurabi Saba ceremony in a wrong light in the public eye, he added.
He continued that the ban has been imposed after a thorough investigation was carried out by UKAl, HERICON, KIMACS and Pandit Loishang and a meeting was convened attended by Maiba/Maibi, Tangkhul Nurabi and Lai committee.
He further stated that UKAl will not remain silent if those involved in performing the sacred rituals of Lai Haraoba festival continue to violate the protocols.
Later the three individuals concerned accepted their mistake and the ban imposed on them and assured that such incidents will not recur.
