Locals voice for 'Mega Food Park' construction

IMPHAL, Apr 10: The villagers of Koijam Maring urged the Government and authorities concerned to start the construction of Mega Food Park to be established at Yaithibi Khunou in Thoubal district at the earliest.
In a meeting held today, villagers of Koijam Maring resolved to support the establishment of Mega Food Park in Yaithibi Khunou.
Though Koijam Maring village is under Tengnoupal district, it is situated next to Yaithibi Khunou.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, former chairman of Koijam Maring Village Authority Kh Jacob appealed to all the concerned to start the construction of the Mega Food Park Project at the earliest which is to be taken up by the State Government under the sponsorship of the Central Government.
He further stated that the villagers will resort to democratic  form of protests if the Government does not start the construction work soon and plans to shift the project somewhere else.
W Marungpham, an elderly villager appealed to start the establishment work of the food park soon taking into consideration the plight of the villagers who are deprived of developmental projects.
He further requested the locals not to pose any hindrance in the establishment of the food park as it will help in the development of the region majorly.
It may be mentioned that the State Government had planned to establish the National Sports University presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Yaithibi Khunou however the project had to be shifted to some other place due to many objections.
