Thoubal , Apr 10: In a bid to analyse 'What we can learn & what we can do as a neighbor', a seminar on 'The Current crisis in Myanmar' was organised at Slopeland school of Teachers Education in Khongjom Salt village, Thoubal district, today.
Addressing the programme as a resource person, Human Rights Alert Manipur, director and human rights activist, Babloo Loitongbam highlighted the similarities between Manipur and Myanmar and stated that even the problems and discrimination faced by the people of Myanmar is almost the same.
He raised questions against the involvement of a major political conspiracy in the coup that took place in Myanmar and also mentioned the possibility of the crisis being influenced by other developed countries.
Babloo further recalled the tragic incidents of the 'Great June Uprising' in which 18 persons laid down their lives for the unity & integrity of Manipur and expressed his grief over the massacre of innocent protesters in Myanmar.
DM College of Arts, Political Science Professor, Dr Langpoklakpam Suraj, resource person, also enlightened the gathering on the cause and the effects of the ongoing crisis in Myanmar.
