IMPHAL, Apr 12: A total of 18 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected at JNIMS, RIMS, Babina Diagnostics, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, Escent Diagnostics, Kangpokpi and Jiribam during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the 18 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (8), Imphal East (6), Churachandpur (1), Kangpokpi (2) and Jiribam (1).
On the other hand, six COVID-19 positive people were discharged from home isolation during the last 24 hours.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 29,514 (general population 26,060 and Central security personnel 3,454).
The cumulative number of recovered cases after reconciliation with data from discharge team is 29,035 (general population 25,598 and Central security personnel 3,437).
The number of active cases after reconciliation with data from discharge team is 103 (general population 90 and Central security personnel 13).
As there was no report of Covid related death during the last 24 hours, the death toll remains unchanged at 376 while the recovery rate stands at 98.37 per cent.
Air passengers who came to the State on April 10 by Indigo flight 6E-2615 in rows 23-29 and 6E-524 in rows 22-28, April 11 by Indigo flight 6E-172 in rows 1-5 and 6E-2251 in rows 10-16  have been asked to inform the COVID-19 Common Control Room  on 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers immediately.
On the other hand a total of 3971 people received the Covid inoculation shots today across the 126 centres set up by the State Government. Out of this, 2400 people received their first Covid shot while 1571 received their second shot.
352 test positive in Assam : A total of 352 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Assam in the past 24 hours.
One person has succumbed to the disease in Lakhimpur district, taking the total death toll to 1,118.
Kamrup (Metro) has reported the maximum number of cases with 186 people  testing positive in the last 24 hours.
However, despite the surge in cases many people still refrain from strictly adhering to Covid-19 protocols, thus increasing the chance of infections manifold.
The total number of cases has reached 2,20,310, of which 2,15,943 people have recovered from the disease.
The total number of active cases is 1,502.
On the other hand, the Assam Government has issued a set of standard operating procedures in view of the upcoming Bohag Bihu celebrations in the State.
These guidelines have been issued to curb the spread of mutant strains of the virus during the festive season when there are bound to be large gatherings in public places.
However, the Bihu committees are protesting against the directives of the State Government that has asked the former to wind up Bihu functions by 11 am and provide all people arriving in the venue with hand sanitizers and face masks.
The pandals for the functions will also have to be big enough to allow the public to practice social distancing.
The organizers and volunteers will also have to undergo compulsory Covid-19 tests before the functions.
