City Police catche thief red handed

IMPHAL, Apr 13: A team of City Police caught a person red handed trying to steal the iron bar  from fence at Kanglapat opposite to GM Hall yesterday.
The team under the supervision of Maibam Sudhir, OC City Police, had been keeping a strict vigil on the area after reports had come up iron bars being cut from the fencing by unknowns at the wee hours of night.
The Police team caught one Azad Khan (20), s/o (late) Tomba Khan of Lalpani Jiribam was caught at around 8:30 PM while he was trying to steal the iron bar which was about 8 feet in length.
During preliminary interrogation, he revealed that he had come to the area for stealing and sold the stolen items at one scrap shop called BB Iron and Steel Scrap located at Hatta Minuthong.
City Police raided the scrap shop and arrested Md Akbar Khan (27), s/o Md Amzad Ali of Khelakhong Mayang Imphal, currently staying at Hatta Minuthong near Masjid, today and three iron poles were recovered.
A FIR has been registered against them and were produced before the concerned duty Magistrate Imphal West and taken into five days Police custody for further investigation.
