Remand for accused

IMPHAL, Apr 13: The 28-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly uploading an obscene video on a pornographic site has been remanded to judicial custody till April 26.
The man, Kapur Nongthombam of Chingangbam Leikai, was produced before the Court of the Chief Magistrate Imphal West yesterday.
Earlier, the Court had sent him to the custody of Cyber Crime Police Station.
The case
Kapur Nongthombam had allegedly uploaded an obscene video on a pornographic website using a fake account and also shared the mobile number of a girl.
The girl’s mother had then lodged a complaint with the police on March 4.
The obscene video was allegedly recorded by Kapur without the knowledge of the girl while video chatting on WhatsApp when they were in a relationship, as per the mother’s complaint.
Police investigation had traced the source of the video and found it was uploaded from the mobile (number) used by Kapur.
During the hearing yesterday, the Assistant Public Prosecutor submitted the findings of the investigation and prayed the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate to send Kapur to judicial custody.
The Counsel of the accused filed a remand objection along with a prayer for bail.
The Court on perusal of the records submitted, rejected the bail request and sent the accused (Kapur) to judicial custody till April 26.
