IMPHAL, Apr 13: The total number of COVID-19 active cases has surged to 118 after 26 people including 23 civilians were tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnos-tics, Raj Medicity, Mangal, Escent Diagnostics, Chandel and Jiribam. This is the highest surge on a single day in 2021.
A total of 2615 individuals received the Covid shot on the third of Tika Utsav.
According to Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the 23 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (11), Imphal East (7),  Thoubal (1), Churachandpur (1), Kangpokpi (1), Chandel (1) and Jiribam (1).
On the other hand, 11 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (6) and Shija Hospital (5). The cumulative number of positive cases is 29,540 (general population 26,083 and Central security personnel 3,457).
This figure includes 118 active cases (general population 102 and Central security personnel 16) and 29,046 recovered cases (general population 25,609 and Central security personnel 3,437). The State posted a recovery rate of 98.32 per cent on Tuesday while the death toll stands at 376.
Air passengers who came to the State on April 10 by Indigo flights 6E-2615 in rows 23-29 and 6E-524 in rows 22-28 and April 11 by Indigo flights 6E-172 in rows 1-5 and 6E-2251 in rows 10-16 have been asked to inform the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers immediately.
