IMPHAL, Apr 13 (DIPR)
The North Eastern Region Districts SDG Index: Regional consultation is being held at Shillong, Meghalaya from 12 to 14 April 2021 jointly organised by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MoDoner) NITI Aayog with support from UNDP.
The State of Manipur is being represented by 5 officers including N Kulkarani, Director (Planning), Dr Kh Shashikumar Additional Director (Health Services), RK Tenedy Additional Director (Edn-S), Bantee Singh Konthoujam Deputy Secretary (SW), and Nydia Nengneichong Mate Assistant Director (Eco & Stats).
During the workshop, the draft North Eastern Region District Indicator Framework (NEDIF) will be presented for finalization and feedback will be sought from the States. The overall objective of the workshop is to frame a roadmap for sustainable development and to balance the economic, environmental and social needs, allowing prosperity for the present and the future generation.
One of the milestone achievements of this programme  is that 8 Northeastern States have finalized and launched their SDG State indicator Framework thereby aligning their monitoring and evaluation systems with SDG targets.
MoDoNER has further identified the need for monitoring of the achievement on a concurrent basis and has partnered with NITI Aayog for focused inventions. The Government of India has thus decided to ensure a ranking of the North Eastern States and Districts in a concurrent manner and an SDG index for the region with a dynamic dashboard for progress monitoring has been agreed upon.
