Governor greets

IMPHAL, Apr 13: Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has sent her greetings on the occasion of Cheiraoba tomorrow.
The Goveaarnor in her message to the people said, “Cheiraoba symbolizes the advent of the New Year particularly for the Hindu Meiteis and every household celebrates it with great enthusiasm in Manipur. The festival marks the transition from the old to the new with the arrival of spring and rekindles the hope for a better tomorrow. It is also a time to take resolutions to collectively work to destroy the dark forces in the society trying to disrupt the pace of progress and development in the State.”
May the New Year bring peace and prosperity to every household, Dr Najma said.
Works Minister Th Biswajit also sent his greetings on the occasion.
Wishing the people a happy and prosperous Cheiraoba, he also reminded the people about the need to follow the COVID-19 guidelines.
“Today, as we are facing the second wave of COVID outbreak in the country, let us stay strong and fight it back to emerge victorious by adhering to the SOPs issued by the experts and Government,” he said in his message.
Hill Areas Committee Chairman K Leishiyo too wished the people on the occasion of Cheiraoba and prayed for peace and prosperity in the State.
May this New Year bring all communities closer and strengthen the bond of brotherhood among them, he said.
