Nagaland ‘lockdown’

Kohima, Apr 27 : In light of the rising COVID-19 cases in the State, the Nagaland Government announced today that the State will go into a ‘lockdown with consolidated guidelines’ for two weeks starting April 30. The State Govt clarified that this was not a complete lockdown. Nagaland has seen a rise in COVID-19 cases this past month. The State reported 207 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, taking the tally to 13,445 total cases and 847 active cases.
Of this, 177 new cases have been reported from Dimapur alone, 13 from Ko-hima, three from Longleng, nine from Tuensang, three from Mokochung and one each from Mon and Peren. In all, Nagaland has 874 active cases as on Tuesday.
While schools and colleges will remain shut during during the ‘lockdown’, restaurants and shopping malls can remain open with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols during the period, the Government said. Educational institutions including vocational and training institutes, hostels, would also be shut during this period. All returnees to the State must undergo mandatory testing and testing centres would be extended at all entry points, the Government added. There would be no restrictions on essential commodities.
