Footballer Chinglensana returns to rousing reception

IMPHAL, Apr 5 : Konsham Chinglensana Singh who was part of the Indian National Football team which visited Oman and United Arab for international friendlies got a warm reception as he landed here at Imphal International Airport this evening.
Though the footballer arrived at 6.30 pm, more than two hours behind schedule due to flight delay, his parents, supporters and well wishers from his birthplace-Churachandpur waited patiently to give him a rousing welcome.
Chinglensana, born to Konsham Amu and Konsham Ongbi Memcha Leima of Churachandpur Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, expressed utmost gratitude and happiness to his family members, fans and localities for receiving him in such a lovely manner.
The elated football player also urged all to keep encouraging all the players irrespective of discipline (sports) so that all the players, including him could do better and bring laurels to the State.
On being asked about the performance at the recent international friendlies, defender Chinglensana stated that winning or losing is a part of the game and focus will be on to make amend and improvise in future events.
Chinglensana who plays for ISL team Hyderabad FC, featured in the friendly match against Oman in Dubai on March 25. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Chinglensana however did not feature in the game in which India lost 0-6 to UAE on March 29.
Chinglensana and other State players including Suresh Wangjam, Bipin Singh etc were part of the Indian team in these international friendlies scheduled as a preparation ahead of the upcoming World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers.
