Cut more cakes, blow more candles, say I love you to people whom you love, be kind, give more generously, help people, kiss and hug your children, talk to your parents, don’t grudge people or the life you got, put makeup, wear that dress you have been saving forever for that party that might not happen until next year, order pizza, bake cookies, talk to long lost friends whom you think about often, listen to your favorite music, do whatever gives you happiness unless it hurts others. Be grateful that you are alive today, sitting on your comfortable chair reading this article because there are so many people who are not healthy as you are. They are fighting for life.
The second wave of Covid is teaching us that before we even know it, it is taking away lives of young and old alike. The past two weeks have been just so horrible with news coming from everywhere regarding people getting infected, shortage of medicines, unavailability of oxygen, fights for beds in hospitals and spaces in ICU and last but not the least crematoriums being full. Today, having lost so many friends and acquaintances, it not only scares you but also it so happens that it creates an environment of an unknown fear that brings chills down your spine. While humanity and charity has just risen tremendously, with lay people coming to help and support their brethren, it also shows how the health system has collapsed and is not able to cope with the increasing health care demands.
I am not an expert here, but just thinking about what can one do in this scary environment- I guess for those who are fine till now should be grateful for their health and take precautions and do whatever makes you happy. Does thinking positive really make a difference ? Or is it just escaping reality and fooling your own heart into believing that everything is fine, while in reality it is not ?
As ‘change’ stands true being the eternal constant, time will do the needful of cycling things back to normalcy but how do we wait till that victory ? It is not only a test of time but also a test of our patience to deal with such horrendous unpredictability. Your mind is a loop. If you sow one positive thought, it relays a chain reaction and helps you imagine the best. Similarly, the moment you think a negative thought, it again causes you to wire and fire a blast of the worst things that can happen.
Since, its lockdown and you are all stuck at home, try to use this time productively. You can make the most of your time by spending it with people who make you feel comfortable, who make you feel important, who helps you grow as a human being and who will love you till the end- your family. Or you could keep filling yourself with negativity and craziness that the media has to offer.
Life is pretty simple. Live it to the fullest when times are right and duck down and safeguard when times are tough. The law is called “survival of the fittest”! Request you all to keep indoors, stay safe, enjoy simple luxuries that life has given you and be negative- only on your Covid report !
