With 15 deaths Manipur sets new grim record

IMPHAL, May 9: With the COVID-19 graph soaring rapidly every single day, the State today set a grim record of 15 deaths.
The highest death toll earlier was 13 on May 6.
As a result, the death toll has jumped to 476 while the recovery rate has further declined 86.54 per cent, informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
In the last 24 hours, 15 persons aged 65 (male, Imphal West), 72 (female, Imphal West), 24 (male, Imphal West), 79 (female, Kakching), 66 (male, Imphal East), 72 (female, Chura-chandpur), 60 (male, Imphal West), 51 (male, Imphal West), 36 (male, Imphal East), 43 (male, Imphal West), 58 (male, Imphal East), 49 (male, Imphal West, 48 (male, Imphal East), 39 (male, Imphal East) and 78 (female, Imphal East) expired at Shija Hospital, Churachandpur district hospital, Raj Medicity, JNIMS and RIMS.
On the other hand, 579 people including eight personnel of CAPF were found infected by the contagion at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother’s Care Hospital, RD Wing, CMC, Swiss Clinic, Ema Hospital, Raj Medicity, Iboyaima Hospital, Advance Hospital, Shija Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Chandel, Senapati, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Kamjong and Noney.
The 571 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (197), Imphal East (191), Thoubal (42), Bishnupur (34), Kakching (37), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (40), Chandel (1), Senapati (2), Tamegnlong (2), Kangpokpi (8), Tengnoupal (5), Kamjong (3) and Noney (3).
Following recovery, 135 people who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 had been discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (9), home isolation (89), RIMS (9), RD Wing (12), Raj Medicity (4), Churachandpur (4), BB (1), Shija Hospital (6) and Bishnupur (1).
The cumulative number of positive cases is 35,354 (general population 31,696 and Central security personnel 3,658).
It includes 4280 active cases (general population 4105 and Central security personnel 175) and 30,598 recovered cases (general population 27,120 and Central security personnel 3,478).
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1036 D type oxygen cylinders and 333 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur, it claimed.
Air passengers who came to the State on May 7 by Indigo flight 6E-2615 in rows 8-20, and 6E-6358 in rows 1-4 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers for further surveillance and necessary testing. Meanwhile, four persons out of 13 air passengers tested today on arrival at Imphal airport have been found infected by the contagion. The cumulative number of air passengers tested at Imphal airport has reached 4581 and it includes 103 positive cases.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 2,65,921 people have been vaccinated against the virus in the State.
