Mom-son held

IMPHAL, May 9: A team of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station arrested 4 persons includinga a mother-son duo in connection with drug peddling yesterday evening.
The team of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station along with women police personnel under the Supervision of S Ibomcha, SP Thoubal conducted frisking and checking at the said spot acting on reliable information.
During frisking, two persons coming from Leirongthel toward Chandrakhong on a moped without registration number, were detained for checking and verification.
On spot verification, detained persons were identified as Kimboi Kipgen (38), wife of Jangminthang Kipen and Mangpilun Kipgen (19), son of Jangminthang Kipgen of Molen village under Kangpoki district.
On checking the hang bag of Kimboi Kipgen by women police personnel, opium weighing 4995.1 grams concealed inside 6 plastic polythene packets labelled as 'Nestle Every Day' dairy milk was detected.
Hence, both the mother and the son were arrested besides seizing six packets of opium by observing necessary formalities.
A police source further said that two more associates identified as Limjapao Kipgen (38) of Bongba Khullen Kangpokpi and Seiminlen Khongsai (32) of L Molnon Village Kangpokpi were arrested at around 6.50 pm as a follow up action as disclosed by Kimboi Kipgen. They were also coming at the same inter village road connecting Chandrakhong and Leirongthel on a moped which does not bear any registration number.
A case has been registered by Nongpok Sekmai Police Station against the arrested persons for taking up necessary legal action against them under ND&PS Act.
