424 more test positive as virus continues to spread Covid claims 13 more to take total tally to 489

IMPHAL, May 10: The State COVID-19 death toll has surged to 489 after 13 persons fell victim to the virus during the last 24 hours.
The positive cases also witnessed a spike of 424, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
In the last 24 hours, 13 persons aged 42 (female, Imphal East), 43 (male, Imphal West) 48 (male, Imphal West), 46 (male, Chandel), 92 (female, Thoubal), 73 (male, Thoubal), 60 (female, Imphal West), 65 (male, Imphal West), 39 (male, Bishnupur), 33 (female, Kakching), 66 (male, Imphal West), 72 (female, Imphal West) and 62 male, Imphal West) expired at Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, Chandel district hospital, Thoubal district hospital, JNIMS and RIMS.
Out of the 13 victims claimed by COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, seven were residents of Imphal West.
According to the press release, 424 people including 10 personnel of CAPF were found infected by the virus at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Mother’s Care Hospital, CMC, Hillside Hospital, Little Clinic, Swiss Clinic, Ema Hospital, Raj Medicity, Peace Hospital, Iboyaima Hospital, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Escent Diagnostics, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Chandel, Senapati, Tamgenlong, Jiribam, Kangpokpi and Noney.
The 414 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (175), Imphal  East (157), Thoubal (8), Bishunupur (30), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (18), Chandel (3), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (2), Jiribam (11), Kangpokpi (3), Tengnoupal (1) and Noney (1).
Altogether 87 persons who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (3), home isolation (41), RIMS (8), RD Wing (2), Lanva (10), BB (1), Churachandpur district hospital (1), CCC Kakching (1), Jiribam (1), CCC Bishnupur (7) and Ukhrul (12).
The cumulative number of positive cases is 35,778 (general population 32,110 and Central security personnel 3,668).
This figure includes 4604 active cases (general population 4422 and Central security personnel 182) and 30,685 (general population 27,204 and Central security personnel 3,481).
The recovery rate as on Monday is 85.76 per cent.
In the last 2 hours, a total of 1020 D type oxygen cylinders and 524 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur.
District hospitals have 128 D type and 85 B type filled cylinders of which Bishnupur has (13D, 8B), Chandel (18D, 6B), Churachandpur (24D, 10B), Senapati (6D, 7B), Thoubal 23D, 11B), Ukhrul 9D, 16B), Tamenglong (15D, 21B) and Jiribam (20D, 6B).
A total of 65 air passengers were tested at Imphal airport today and five of them were found positive.
So far, 4,646 air passengers have been tested at Imphal airport and the number of cumulative positive cases is 108.
