Advisory for Covid positive personsInoculate 3 months after recovery : NEGVAC

New Delhi, May 19
The Union Health Ministry has accepted the new recommendations of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration (NEGVAC) with regard to Covid vaccination.
As per the new recommendations of NEGVAC, COVID-19 vaccination should be deferred by 3 months after recovery from the illness.
For individuals who have received at least the 1st dose and got COVID-19 infection before completion of the dosing schedule, the 2nd dose should be deferred by 3 months after clinical recovery from COVID-19 illness.
COVID-19 vaccination has been recommended for all lactating women, by the Health Ministry.
As per the latest guidelines, there is no requirement for screening of the vaccine recipients by rapid antigen test (RAT) prior to COVID-19 vaccination.
SARS-2 COVID-19 patients who have been given anti-SARS-2 monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma, then the COVID-19 vaccination should be postponed by 3 months from the date of discharge from the hospital.
Persons with any other serious general illness requiring hospitalisation or ICU care should also wait for 4-8 weeks before getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
An individual can donate blood after  14 days of either receipt of COVID-19 vaccine or testing RT-PCR negative, if infected by coronavirus.
In regards to COVID-19 vaccination of pregnant women, the Health Ministry said that the matter is under discussion and further deliberation by the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI).
NEGVAC was established to provide guidance on all aspects of COVID-19 vaccination including prioritisation of population groups, procurement and inventory management, vaccine selection, vaccine delivery and tracking mechanism etc.
Centre to provide 5.86 cr Covid vaccine doses to States/UTs
The Central Government today announced that a total of 5.86 crore Covid vaccine doses will be provided free of cost to States and Union Territories from May 1 to June 15.
In addition, as per information received from vaccine manufacturers, a total of 4 crore, 87 lakh and 55 thousand doses will also be available till end of June 2021 for direct procurement by States/UTs, the Health Ministry said in its statement.
