No home isolation in rural, semi-urban areas, rules Maharashtra Government

The Maharashtra Government on Tuesday decided to ban home isolation for Covid patients in rural and semi-urban areas in districts that still have positivity rate higher than 10 per cent. A ll new patients testing positive for virus in these areas wil have to be admitted to Covid care centres.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will continue to allow home isolation for Covid patients in Mumbai.
The districts where the ban on home isolation will be applicable with immediate effect include: Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Yavatmal, Amravati, Ratnagiri, Sind-hudurg, Solapur, Akola, Buldhana, Washim, Beed, Gadchiroli, Ahmednagar and Osmanabad.
There has been a sharp decline in the number of Covid cases reported in Maharashtra on a daily basis. After remaining the worst-affected sState by the Covid-19 pandemic in India for almost a year, Maharashtra has now started to come out from under the infection's shadow.
From reporting 67,468 cases on April 21, Maha-rashtra on Monday reported only 22,122 cases. The drop in cases has been facilitated by a dip in positivity rate. While the State's positivity rate has dropped below 10 per cent, the 15 districts mentioned above still have a high rate of tests yielding a positive result.
