19 die, 957 more test Covid +ve in Meghalaya

Nineteen more people died due to Covid-19, taking the fatality count in the State to 502, while 957 fresh cases pushed up the number of active positive cases to 7,971, even as 755 more people recovered from the virus.
The State has so far registered 31,449 confirmed cases.
"The Covid-related deaths included 14 in East Khasi Hills, two each in West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills and one in South Garo Hills," a senior official in the State Health and Family Welfare Department said on Tuesday.
The new Covid-19 cases detected were 395 in East Khasi Hills, 91 each in East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills, 68 in Ri-Bhoi, 36 in West Garo Hills, 34 in West Khasi Hills, 19 in South West Garo Hills, seven in South Garo Hills, six in North Garo Hills and three in East Garo Hills.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday visited Ganesh Das Hospital and Reid Provincial Chest Hospital, in the city, to inspect the installation of oxygen plants.
The oxygen generation plants in both these city hospitals have been funded through the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund.
The oxygen plant at Ganesh Das Hospital has a capacity of 400 LPM (litres per minute) and can support a minimum of 40 beds with high flow oxygen. The oxygen plant at RP Chest Hospital has a capacity of 300 LPM and can support a minimum of 30 beds with high flow oxygen. TNN
