12 more succumb, 442 test positive

IMPHAL, May 8: The COVID-19 pandemic continues to exact heavy toll on the State with 12 persons succumbing to the virus during the last 24 hours while 442 persons including two CAPF personnel were found infected by the virus.
During the last 24 hours, 12 persons aged 76 (female, Kangpokpi), 58 (female, Ukhrul), 41 (female, Kangpokpi), 46 (female, Imphal East), 65 (male, Thoubal), 75 (female, Imphal West), 72 (female, Imphal East), 56 (male, Imphal East), 60 (male, Imphal West), 59 (male, Imphal West), 82 (female, Imphal West and 60 (male, Imphal West) expired at Kangpokpi, Shija Hospital, CMC, JNIMS and RIMS.
The death toll, after taking into account the latest victims, has spiked to 461.
On the other hand, 442 fresh positive cases were detected at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, RD Wing, Little Clinic, Samaritan Hospital, Sielmat Hospital, Hillside Hospital, Ema Hospital, Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kak-ching, Ukhrul, Churachand -pur, Chandel, Senapati, Tengnoupal, Noney and Jiribam.
The 440 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (168), Imphal East (140), Thoubal (17), Bishnupur (27), Kakching (32), Ukhrul (13), Churachandpur (15), Chandel (5), Senapati (3), Kangpokpi (1), Jiribam (4), Tengnoupal (3) and Noney (12).
Following recovery, 85 people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (68), CAPF (2), JNIMS (2), RIMS (4), RD (6), Jiribam (1), BB (1) and Lanva (1).
The cumulative number of positive cases is 34,775 (general population 31,125 and Central security personnel 3,650).
It includes 3851 active cases (general population 3675 and Central security personnel 176) and 30,463 recovered cases (general population 26,994 and Central security personnel 3,469).
The recovery rate as on Saturday is 87.60 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1074 D type oxygen cylinders and 500 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the State, it informed.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 2,58,740 people have been vaccinated against the conta- gion in the State so far.
No single positive case was detected out of 45 air passengers tested today at Imphal airport today.
