Student bodies launch drives to study grievances of non Covid patients

A joint team of six student bodies viz- AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS has started conducting drives at hospitals across the State to check if non-Covid patients are subjected to any kind of hardships and COVID-19 second wave in the State.
A special team constituted for the purpose visited three healthcare facilities in Imphal namely Imphal Hospital and Research Centre, Mother's Care Children Hospital and Sky Hospital and Research Centre today, said a joint statement of the six student bodies.
Surprisingly, the team detected no issue at all as staff at these hospitals were rendering a systematic service to the patients admitted in their respective hospitals.
During the drive, the team found enough stock of oxygen at Imphal Hospital and Research Centre though the hospital does not provide emergency services.  It was also noted that non-Covid patients were admitted after thorough screening and COVID tests.
The hospital located at Lalambung Makhong-RIMS Road was also found equipped with 8 ICU beds and one oxygen ventilator, it said.
It was learnt that the hospital was in constant touch with CMO Imphal West in case of any detection of Covid positive case among patient parties, it said while adding that there are OPD services on alternate days.
The team also noted a smooth functioning and proper services to non-Covid patients at Mother's Care Children Hospital of Sagolband Moirang Leirak. Not only the team found that there were enough ICU beds but also enough stock of oxygen.
The team were also informed that the doctors and staff of the hospital undergo COVID-19 test (TrueNet) every week to ensure safety to all patients and staff, it added.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that non-Covid patients at Sky Hospital and Research Centre are admitted to the hospital after RAT tests.
The team also detected 5 oxygen ventilators, enough stock of oxygen for use at ICU of the hospital which is also situated at Lalambung Makhong-RIMS Road.
The student bodies went on to salute doctors, nurses and others involved in the functioning of all healthcare facilities and appealed to all private hospitals to join hands with the State Government in ensuring there is no lapses in providing health security to every citizen.
