Abandoned and orphaned children should be supported: MCPCR

Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights informed all individual, entity and organisation to ensure that if they received any information regarding orphaned and abandoned children during these COVID-19 times, then the same must be informed to Childline Helpline 1098 for further necessary actions.
The Commission said in a statement issued today that with the surge in cases of COVID-19 cases in the State, there have been situation where parents suffered from the disease and a child is left abandoned. The statement added that under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) of Children Act, 2015, a children who have lost their family support and have become child in need of care and protection has to be provided all the minimum standards of care and the rights of such child are upheld and protected.
The Commission deliberated the importance of looking after the welfare of children in such a sad and tense situation.
